Induction Hob Child Lock: How It Works and When to Use It
Modern induction hobs are packed with safety features, and one of the most reassuring is the child lock. It prevents little hands from accidentally switching on the hob or changing settings, keeping your kitchen safer for everyone.
How the Child Lock Feature Works
The child lock disables the touch controls The glass panel buttons that adjust power, temperature and cooking zones. on your induction hob. When activated, all buttons are locked, meaning the hob can’t be turned on or off until the lock is released.
To activate it, press and hold the lock symbol (usually marked with a key or padlock) for a few seconds. You’ll typically hear a beep or see a symbol on the display confirming it’s active. To unlock, repeat the same process.
When Should You Use the Child Lock?
- When cleaning the hob – to stop accidental activation.
- If there are children in the home – to prevent them turning it on unsupervised.
- When leaving the kitchen – to ensure no settings are changed while unattended.
It’s a small feature, but it adds big peace of mind, especially in busy households or open-plan kitchens.
